It's impossible to watch Showtime's bloody vigilante drama "Dexter" and not root for serial killer Dexter Morgan. That would be like watching "Friends" and not knowing in your heart that Ross and Rachel are totally each other's lobsters, or watching "Buffy" and expecting Sunnydale to somehow just not sit on the Hellmouth.
So, when Dexter (Michael C. Hall) kills people and all that other stuff that well-meaning psychopaths do, you have to stick by the guy. Sure, he acts like he's on a "Boondock Saints"-like mission to smite all baddies before they do somethingimmoral of their own — but it's a mission you can have empathy for. And given all the bloodshed over the past three seasons, no one could really expect Dexter's recent domesticity, which included becoming a father and moving to the suburbs with his family, to last. All is revealed with the DVD release of the fourth season, which hits stores on Tuesday, Aug. 17 ($29.99).
